Born on May 24, 1912, in Corllesley, Ontario, Father Buchheit obtained his elementary and secondary school education in Kitchener and attended St. Jerome's College in that city from 1928 to 1933. After graduation from St. Peter's Seminary in London in 1937, he was ordained to the priesthood in North Bay's Pro Cathedral of the Assumption that same year.
