The Sacrament of the Eucharist

The Holy Eucharist is one of the sacraments of Christian initiation. The Eucharist is the heart and summit of the Church's life. It is the memorial of Christ's Passover, that is, of the work of salvation accomplished by the life, death and resurrection of Christ. The essential signs of the Eucharistic sacrament are bread and wine, on which the blessing of the Holy Spirit is invoked. By consecration of the bread and wine into the Body and Blood of Christ, Christ himself, living and glorious, is present in a true real manner.

Jesus said: " I am the bread that comes down from heaven; if any one eats of this bread, he live for ever;...he who eats my f;esh and drinks my blood has life eternal and...abides in me and I in them." (Jn 6:51.54.56)

The Sacraments of First Reconciliation and First Communion will be administered to students in Grade 2 and higher. First Eucharist normally takes place shortly after Easter of each year; First Reconciliation (Confession) must precede First Eucharist, and so joint application must be made early. Application forms are available for grades two(2) in late September, through the office or at Mass or online. Registration forms are also distributed through the parish schools: St. Mary's French Immersion and Holy Cross.
