Lectors proclaim the Word of God clearly and understandably so that all who hear may respond.
 

Lector Duties are as follows:

• To proclaim the scriptures at liturgical celebrations, primarily at Saturday and Sunday Masses which include proclaiming the Prayers of the Faithful.
• Lectors are scheduled at the Mass of their preference and proclaim usually once every four weeks. Two lectors are scheduled per Mass.
• They are required to prepare one of the readings in advance of Mass. A resource book is provided to assist in this preparation.
• Lectors are asked to volunteer for special celebrations, such as All Souls Day, Christmas Day, Mary Mother of God, Ash Wednesday, Holy Thursday, Good Friday, Easter and Vigil Sunday. If they are available.
   

A Lector should have good familiarity with and deep personal belief in Holy Scriptures. An ability to do public speaking comfortably and confidently. (training is provided)
