March 22: Mass of Chrism - 7:00pm (Pro-Cathedral, North Bay) The Mass of Chrism for the Diocese of Sault Ste. Marie will be held in North Bay. This Mass is twofold: renewing of priestly promises of the priests with the bishop; and the blessing of the sacred oils used in sacraments: Oil of Catechumens, Oil of the Infirm and Oil of Sacred Chrism.
March 24/25: Palm Sunday - Regular Weekend Schedule Palm Sunday is the final Sunday of Lent, the beginning of Holy Week, and commemorates the triumphant arrival of Christ in Jerusalem, days before he was crucified.
March 29: Holy Thursday - Mass of the Lord’s Supper - 7:00pm (with Adoration of the Blessed Sacrament until 10:00pm) Holy Thursday is the commemoration of the Last Supper of Jesus Christ, when he established the sacrament of Holy Communion prior to his arrest and crucifixion.
March 30: Good Friday - The Passion of the Lord 11:00am (Service for Young Families) 3:00pm (Solemn Good Friday Service) Good Friday is the day on which Catholics commemorate the crucifixion of Jesus Christ.
March 31: Holy Saturday - Easter Vigil - 9:00pm (Please note - there will be NO 4:00pm Mass this day) Although celebrated Holy Saturday evening, it is the dramatic Easter Vigil liturgy that marks the night when Jesus Christ was raised from the dead. During this night the people of God keep watch as they await the Resurrection of the Lord. All Catholics should try to attend this Beautiful service. The vigil is divided into four parts: 1) Service of Light, 2) Liturgy of the Word, 3) Liturgy of Baptism, and 4) Liturgy of the Eucharist.
