Ministry of Ushers
These ministers are sometimes referred to as Greeters. Being a welcoming community is very important to us. Ushers are the first face of the parish. They greet those coming into our church, offer assistance to those in need, distribute parish bulletins, take up the collection, and distribute other materials as needed.
The following is a list of necessary tasks to be performed by the usher prior to, during and after Mass:
After Communion, the ushers should be engaged in their own prayer reflections. Parishioners who habitually leave at this time must be left on their own. The usher’s obvious concern for prayerfulness must be a good example for these people. At the brining of the final hymn, go to the doors and be available to hand out bulletins and provide assistance for anyone needing it. Wish everyone possible a pleasant good-bye.
When finished handing out the bulletins check pews to raise kneelers and arrange music books. Pick up any garbage left behind and put found items in the lost and found container in the usher’s room.
Remember, the Spirit works through all of us, but especially through those who minister to the congregation. Your Ministry contributes to the greater glory of God and the greater holiness of His people.
If you would be interested in becoming an usher please contact the coordinator at the bottom of the page.
There are always openings to be filled.
